With WestLicht, an auction story began in Vienna that has had a lasting impact on the international market for historic cameras and photography. For many years, the WestLicht auctions stood for discovery, expertise, and new benchmarks — and from 2002 to 2018 they were built and led under the direction of Peter Coeln. The rare instruments and photographic icons brought together there shaped collections, set prices, and drew the attention of a worldwide community to Vienna. For several years now, we have continued this tradition at OstLicht — with the same passion for originals, the same curatorial care, and a clear focus on the history and significance of every object. The camera and photography auctions on 28 May 2026 are also part of the anniversary celebrations marking 25 years of WestLicht: an occasion to look back — and above all, to look ahead.
