PHotoESPAÑA celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022. On June 16, 1998, the first edition of this event was inaugurated in Madrid, the main objective of which was to give photography a relevant place in public institutions, as well as to make the work of galleries visible.

More than 4,000 photographers have passed through the Festival in these years in which PHotoESPAÑA has had more than 1,800 exhibitions.

Throughout its successive editions, it has consolidated its commitment to photography, making it an essential discipline in the main exhibition halls of the capital and moving to other cities in our country such as Alcalá de Henares, Cuenca, Santander, Valladolid and Zaragoza.

Along with these venues, PHotoESPAÑA 2022 will be present in twelve countries around the world that have joined the anniversary celebration.

The XVV edition of the Festival will present between June 1 and August 28, 120 exhibitions by 442 photographers and visual artists.

Documentary-style photography; the visibility of women photographers who were decisive in their time; Spanish authors; or the new ways of expression in the field of photography and visual arts and the ability of this genre to address current issues, will be some of the axes of the program.
