Jeff Cowen

nameless

mit Werner Knaupp (Plastik)

22 Sep – 20 Oct 2024

In the exhibition "nameless", fotodiskurs presents a juxtaposition of the Photoworks by Jeff Cowen with iron sculptures by Werner Knaupp. Rooted in existential experiences, Werner Knaupp tears apart the shells of his sculptures. He leaves the torn-open, hollow remains of the bodies in the tub and shaft, which will remain there forever. In pursuit of the timeless moment, Jeff Cowen illuminates the invisible world by applying complex darkroom chemicals on silver gelatin paper. He attacks the pri… more

Eine Ausstellung mit Jürgen Knubben

6 May – 19 May 2024
In the exhibition "unseen life", fotodiskurs brings together two artists from opposite regions of Germany, from the Oderbruch and the Black Forest. Each in his own way and each in his very own medium, both are concerned with aspects of live that are usually hidden and taken for granted in our everyday lives.

Ingar Kraus takes analogue photographs of sugar beets in classic black and white. They are the raw material for the industrial production of sugar. Sugar sweetens our everyday lives and gen… more

An exhibition with Werner Knaupp

9 Mar – 29 Mar 2020

With "furor" fotodiskurs brings together two artists who are both fascinated by Iceland. At first, however, Werner Knaupp's paintings and Christof Rehm's photographs have little in common.

Werner Knaupp applies acrylic paint layer by layer on canvas with a pasty brushstroke. His palette is limited to black and white, the latter increasingly withdrawing from the paintings. Black rocks and cliffs rise lonely from wildly surging waves. The narrow strip of sky above the horizo… more

Sayako Sugawara

sporenland

sporenland

23 Nov – 9 Dec 2018

fotodiskurs presents sporenland, the frst solo exhibition in Germany of the London based artist Sayako Sugawara.

Via a family friend in Graz, Austria, she came across a photo archive dating back over 100 years: around 300 glass negatives by alpine photographer Heinrich Schildknecht (1848 Hamburg - 1959 Graz). The negatives had sufered from mould and water damage. As the marks left by these natural processes were examined they appeared to create new landscapes, strangely referring back to the … more

Christof Rehm

borrowed landscapes

borrowed landscapes

17 Mar – 3 Apr 2017
fotodiskurs presents Christof Rehm’s recent body of work Curonian Spit for the first time as a solo presentation.
In this photographic work, Christof Rehm stratifies times and techniques as well as putting past and present on top of each other. He shows landscapes of Erna Lendvai-Dircksen through his lens, forms historical photographs with simple means to contemporary images. By using the ordinary camera of his old mobile phone he creates images of ominous timelessness.

Joan Fontcuberta

Trauma: Kränkelnde Bilder

Trauma: Kränkelnde Bilder

18 Nov – 17 Dec 2016
