More fascinating than the countless idealised self-portraits though, are those shots in which couples do not pose, but seem to be genuinely themselves, and strangely detached: playing and courting, enamoured and intoxicated, desperate and clinging. Or lonely and lost. Already in 1843, English botanist Anna Atkins began to compile and publish her photograms of seaweed, ferns and other plants as typological reference works. Serial procedure, which was initially useful in scientific and technical contexts or, for example, when making records of people, was taken up again by conceptual artists from the 1970s onwards: Bernd a… more Fotostiftung SchweizCHFotostiftung Schweiz +41 52 -234 10 30 info@fotostiftung.ch Tue-Sun 11-18, Wed 11-20 Peter KnappMon Temps29 Oct 2022 – 12 Feb 2023Peter Knapp’s ideas on layout and typography, along with his dynamic photographs, made the magazine Elle a leading medium in the fashion industry from the 1960s onwards.
